Nice and Easy

We’re delighted to hear from Weidenfeld & Nicolson [a division of Orion Publishing] who have just acquired a new Easy Rawlins mystery by Walter Mosley, and that Walter is in the UK currently, so without further ado -

Weidenfeld & Nicolson is delighted to announce the acquisition of a new Easy Rawlins mystery by the legendary American crime writer, Walter Mosley.  The as-yet-untitled novel will be published in autumn 2014 as a hardback at £18.99 and eBook at £9.99.

Walter Mosley brought back Easy Rawlins to great acclaim in LITTLE GREEN, which was published in June 2013.  The iconic detective first appeared in the 1990 classic DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS.  Walter Mosley will be visiting the UK from Monday 14 October to Thursday 17 October, speaking at the Durham Book Festival, Off the Shelf Literary Festival in Sheffield and the Manchester Literary Festival.  All the events will be followed by a screening of DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS.  An excerpt from LITTLE GREEN is available here

Easy Rawlins is back.  We thought we'd seen the last of him at the end of Blonde Faith.  But it takes more than an oncoming car to stop L.A.'s finest Private Investigator.

'Can you find him, Mr. Rawlins?'
'I can sure look.'

As Easy wakes from his coma, the last thing he needs is an investigation. But a friend's son is in trouble and old habits die hard. So Easy wades into the squats, clubs and LSD dens of Sunset Boulevard, trying to find the missing boy, Evander. What he discovers will take him on a journey into the dark underbelly of 1960s culture, where Evander's disappearance is only one piece of a far larger puzzle...

Little Green is Mosley's finest work since Devil in a Blue Dress - a brilliant novel showing a world-class author reunited with his most beloved protagonist.

Sophie Buchan, commissioning editor at Weidenfeld & Nicolson, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the new Easy Rollins novel from Walter Mosely, excluding Canada, from Suzanne Smith at Doubleday.

Buchan says: ‘The return of Easy Rawlins has been a major event for crime fans the world over. It is such a pleasure to see Easy back where he belongs on the mean streets of LA, and to see one of America’s finest authors writing at the very top of his game.’
